How Does Sleep Test Work?

The study or polysomnogram (PSG) is a test that automatically diffuses and annals specific physical activities while sleeping. The recording that has been measured overnight becomes data. There Are Four Kinds Of SleepTests.

Diagnostic Over Night PSG

This test is a general monitoring of sleep and a variety of body functions during sleep. This monitoring includes heartbeat rate, the oxygen level in the blood, and brain waves.

Diagnostic Day Time Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT)

This test is to diagnose a disease known as narcolepsy and to measure the degree of day time sleepiness. It records how quickly you fall asleep in noiseless conditions during the day time. This test also records how speedily and how frequently you enter REM sleep. The analysis is carried out in the morning, subsequent an indicative overnight PSG.

Two Night Evaluation PSG And CPAP Titration

On the first night, the patient will have a general monitoring and analytic evaluation. If the doctor diagnoses sleep apnea, the patient will come back for a second night to regulate the right pressure to continuing positive airway pressure (CPAP) treatment. It brings air into your airlines through a mainly intended nasal mask.

Split Night PSG With CPAP Titration

This test is done when moderate or severe sleep apnea has been exposed or strappingly alleged throughout the first part of the night’s study. The second half of the night is used to regulate the CPAP weight required to balance apnea.

What Can You Expect From Sleep Test?

Doctors give private room in the hospital or sleep center to the patient on the day of the test. In the night they start the test. Near the bedroom of the patient, a central monitoring area will be set up. Here technicians will watch and monitors the patient while sleeping.

The patient will be bowed up to gear that may look rough, though most patients fall asleep with slight effort.

Equipment Used In The Sleep Test

This equipment is a sticky surface electrode. Doctors put this electrode on the scalp, limbs, and chest of the patient. During the test, these electrodes send signals generated by brains and muscles to measuring gear. When the patient sleeps, the doctors records muscle and mind activity digitally. These sensors record the heart rate, heart rhythm, blood pressure, and brain activity.

Other Apparatus And Sleep Tests

The electrooculogram (EOG)

This test is to record eye movements that are necessary to determine sleeping disorder stages.

Electrocardiogram (EKG)

This test is to record the heart rhythm and rate of the patient.

Sound sleep is very necessary to be fit and fine and to do daily work with ease. These tests help the patient to diagnose the issue and get treated at the beginning of this health issue.
